REVIEW | Metal Territory
Savage return with Septic Tomb, an EP that picks up exactly where the 2023 demo left off: pure‑bred, dirty, late‑80s/early‑90s death metal with punk, crust and grind energy. Michel Jonker (Entrapment, Absorbed, Makiladoras) picks up the thread of the old school again and delivers four new tracks that hit as if they came out of ’89.

“Nightmares” and “S.A.V.A.G.E.” are immediate, fast and primitive, with a clear influence from Nihilist and Repugnant. “Spectral Torment” moves along more doom/death paths, recalling Macabre End, with heavy, muddy riffing that works flawlessly in a short runtime. The title track “Septic Tomb” brings death ‘n’ roll and grindcore energy, more Repulsion than Xysma, with raw power and old school attitude.
The EP also includes all three tracks from Demo I as a bonus, completing the pre‑album material before the upcoming full‑length. The overall picture is clear: Savage play death metal the way it should be played — short tracks, primal riffs, d‑beat, crust energy and an authenticity that pretends to be nothing.

Septic Tomb is immediate, violent and made with love for the ’87–’90 era. If you’re waiting for their debut, this EP shows exactly what direction it will take: old school death metal with doom and grind surges, without needless ornamentation.
