Runemagick – Cycle Of The Dying Sun (Dawn Of Ashen Realms), released on October 31, 2025, is an enthralling and ritualistic death/doom metal record by the long-running Swedish creator Nicklas “Terror” Rudolfsson, who here signs the music, production and performance almost entirely on his own, with guest contributions for extra atmosphere.
The record unfolds as a slow, ritualistic descent into dark sonic landscapes where heavy mid-tempo riffing, hypnotic melodic passages, rhythmic shifts and moments of melodic, almost ceremonial vocal lines compose a world where decay, transcendence and the mysterious sense of the end are joined together – as if the sun were setting to give rise to a new, glittering “sphere of ash”. This release continues the Runemagick tradition while adding depth and a “virtual” feel, both in relation to the recent works and as a standalone musical experience that moves between power and atmosphere.
