Genre: Black Metal with Greek traditions
For fans of: Septicflesh, Daemonia Nymphe, Yoth Iria The recording was done from July to October 2009 at Lunatech Studios in Katerini, at the foot of Olympus, with Sakis Tolis producing and Dimitris Douvras engineering. The title comes from the ancient “ΕΑΛΩ” and the album is a concept about the feelings of a warrior in battle. Among the guests are Diamanda Galás on “Orders from the Dead”, Alan Nemtheanga of Primordial on “Thou Art Lord” and the Pleiades, a traditional women’s choir from Epirus, while “…Pir Threontai” is based on the traditional song “Μωρή Δεροπολίτισσα”. In the US the album sold about 400 copies in its first week and entered at number 144 on the Billboard Heatseekers. In January 2026 its re-recording was released, “Aealo (Re-Recorded)”, with the current lineup replaying the entire album and the same guests. Our take It is the album that made Rotting Christ sound at once more Greek and heavier than ever. The choir on the title track gives you goosebumps.
