Offernat are a duo from Denmark that brings together death-doom, melodic death metal and thrashy blackened death metal. “The Ecstasy of Death” is their third album and was released on September 11, 2026.

The album
Behind the band are Anders Bork (guitar, bass, vocals) and Jonas Bangstrup (drums, keyboards, vocals), with the cover art signed by Adam Burke. The album has four tracks that approach the one-hour mark — three of them exceed twelve minutes — and moves between fast, furious passages and slow, heavy doom patterns. The voices are clearly two: a high black metal scream in the fast parts and a deep, cavernous growl in the doom parts.
Our take
The challenge here is balance, because when many genres come together the album easily falls apart. Here it does not: the tempo changes work, the guitar melodies hold the attention and the album flows without tiring, despite its long duration. The opening with “Tears Dissolved in Light” sets the tone, with a quiet fade-in and melodies that grow heavier as the track goes on.
