On March 29, 2019 “Wolf to Man” came out, Nightrage’s eighth album, again via Despotz Records.
Country: Greece / Sweden
Genre: Melodic death metal
For fans of: Insomnium, Dark Tranquillity, Offernat
The production was handled by Marios Iliopoulos, Magnus Söderman and Ronnie Nyman, with the line-up — Söderman, Francisco Escalona, Lawrence Dinamarca — now settled. The first single was “By Darkness Drawn”, in December 2018.
The album is themed around humanity’s path to its own destruction, and the sound balances between violence and melody. Standouts include “Starless Night”, the title track “Wolf to Man”, “The Damned” and “Arm Aim Kill”.
Our take
It is their most balanced record since “Insidious”: heavy without becoming monotonous, melodic without turning sweet.
