The ninth album was released on February 18, 2022 via Despotz Records, again produced by Fredrik Nordström.
Country: Greece / Sweden
Genre: Melodic death metal
For fans of: Insomnium, Dark Tranquillity, At the Gates
Thirteen tracks in 39 minutes, with a video for “Falsifying Life” and the writing team of Söderman, Escalona and Dinamarca continuing unchanged from “Wolf to Man”.
The sound is more melancholic compared with the previous record, with slower passages in “Shadows Embrace Me” and “Cursed by the Gift of Sight”, while the title track “Abyss Rising” and “Nauseating Oblivion” keep the speed up.
Our take
Written in a period when shows were shut down, the album came out darker and more introverted than its predecessors — with Nordström returning and giving the sound a familiar clarity.
