American death metallers MALEFIC THRONE, made up of guitarist Gene Palubicki ( ANGELCORPSE , PERDITION TEMPLE ), vocalist and bassist Steve Tucker ( MORBID ANGEL ) and drummer John Longstreth ( ORIGIN , HATE ETERNAL , ex- ANGELCORPSE ), present their first music video for the track “When our Shadows Align” , which comes from the album The Conquering Darkness , out now via Agonia Records .
The trio was formed by Palubicki in 2020, after they had first met at Morrisound in 1997, where both ANGELCORPSE and MORBID ANGEL were recording their own albums at the same time.
“The roots of this band can be traced back to the mid-’90s, when Gene , Steve and I first met at the Morrisound studios,” comments John Longstreth . “It’s an amazing feeling to see those old conversations and friendships evolve into a true celebration of hot infernal death metal. I have no doubt that this union will be absolutely crushing.”
Palubicki stresses that the music produced by MALEFIC THRONE bears the mark of all three members, strong in every moment of the songs. The composition of three members through performance and songwriting is what makes the band stand out, with an increased dynamic within the death metal form they produce.
“The Conquering Darkness” , the band’s debut album released in November 2025 by Agonia Records and recently reissued on vinyl, was recorded, mixed and mastered at Menegroth The Thousand Caves (GORGUTS, ORIGIN, ATHEIST) with Colin Marston . Drummer John Longstreth hints at the result as extremely brutal and hellish nuclear death metal. The cover was painted by renowned artist Daniele Valeriani ( DARK FUNERAL , MAYHEM ). Christophe Szpajdel ( EMPEROR , MOONSPELL ) crafted the band’s logo.
