Loneshore return eight years after their debut with Nothing Left to Deconstruct, a record that moves between post‑metal, doom and progressive metal, with a melancholic mood that pervades the entire album. The subject matter stays on the genre’s familiar path: inner search, existential thoughts and a constant effort to understand oneself through images of nature.

The band combines post‑metal buildup with doom rhythms and more intense melodic bursts. The clean vocals play a leading role and give the record a strong melancholy, especially in the choral moments of “Of Lost Waters”. The harsh vocals have a blackened texture, functional but sometimes a bit more “tight”. Still, the alternation of vocals keeps the interest alive.
Musically, the album is based on slow, heavy structures, with gradual buildups and atmospheric passages. “To Stride the Black Earth” stands out immediately, as it’s the fastest and most aggressive track, with a nice combination of growls and clean vocals and a guitar melody that creates tension. “With Nothing We Part” opens with a pure post‑rock style before returning to metal, showing the band’s more sensitive side.
There are also more technical moments, such as on “Parhelion” and “Birth of a Mountain”, where the changes in 5/4, 6/4 and 7/4 give a nice sense of instability. Singer Luiz Felipe Netto remains the record’s strongest element, while drummer Pedro Mercier delivers very clean and careful performances.

The album’s weak point is the production. Although the genre demands atmosphere and depth, here the sound is somewhat “dry”. The low end is missing, so the riffs don’t have the weight they need and the more atmospheric moments don’t fill as they should. Nothing Left to Deconstruct is good, but it doesn’t reach the level of cinematic power it could have.
Despite its weaknesses, the record has beautiful moments and shows a band with potential. With bolder songwriting and fuller production, Loneshore can reach much higher. For now, they deliver a respectable but not stunning record.
Final score: 6/10
