Killswitch Engage singer Jesse Leach has said he would like the band’s next record to be faster and heavier, as the first discussions about new music begin.
“`He spoke to Baby Huey of radio station 107.7 The Bone at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California (as transcribed by Blabbermouth). There Killswitch Engage played their last US show for some time. A tour of New Zealand and Australia follows, and for 2027 the only thing they are looking at is some European festivals. Beyond that there is nothing else in the works, but the conversation has started about whether they should begin writing again.
Regarding the direction of the next album after «This Consequence» in 2025, he explained that he is pushing for a faster, heavier and harder sound, for fun. You cannot force that on this band, though, he says. He has an idea in mind, but when he hears what the other members bring he is inspired by their sound and writes based on it. In the back of his mind, though, a voice is shouting «let’s go loud and heavy».
The band begins its biggest headline tour of Australia and New Zealand in late October, with British act Sylosis as support. The tour opens in Auckland on 30 October 2026 and ends in Perth on 14 November 2026.
