British guitarist, singer and songwriter Billy Morrison releases “Becoming“, which is the first single from his upcoming album “Hollow”, expected in August via TLG | ZOID/Virgin Music Group. The strong track was written by Morrison, Sully Erna (Godsmack) and Brett Scallions. The song features Erna on vocals and Grammy-winning Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme) on guitar. According to Morrison, “Becoming” is about “transforming from the darkness and negativity of certain lifestyle choices and becoming a powerful, positive and strong force. For an in-depth explanation, you should ask Sully about the lyrics he wrote“.
Morrison continues by saying that “when the music for ‘Becoming’ was finally done, there was only one person in my mind I could imagine singing it, and that was Sully Erna. His work with Godsmack over all these years has proven that his voice is one of the strongest in rock music“. “Besides, he’s a great guy to hang out with“, adds Morrison, “so luckily for me, his answer wasn’t just ‘Absolutely, I’ll sing it’. We managed to record it together in Los Angeles while he was here. It was an amazing atmosphere, and when we were all at the Above Ground show here in Los Angeles late last year, it seemed fitting to ask Nuno to take the lead role (keeping Boston in this track!). And again, he kindly agreed and did it perfectly. It was a pleasure to collaborate with both Sully and Nuno on this song – it’s the perfect collaboration for the release of this new album of mine!“

Two years ago, Billy Morrison released “The Morrison Project” via TLG |ZOID/Virgin Music Group. This was his third solo album (and the first since 2015) and produced the #1 Active Rock song (Mediabase) in America: “Crack Cocaine” with Ozzy Osbourne and Steve Stevens and co-written by the three artists. A deluxe edition of the album followed in 2025 and the bonus track, “Gods Of Rock and Roll (Orchestral)“, another seismic collaboration with Osbourne and Stevens, which entered the Active Rock Top Ten (Mediabase).
The upcoming album “Hollow” will follow the success of The Morrison Project from 2024 with 12 songs, half performed by Morrison and the other half by some of Morrison’s friends . Guests include Dexter Holland, Marilyn Manson, Chuck D, B Real, DuffMcKagan, Steve Stevens, DMC, and the aforementioned Sully Erna and Nuno Bettencourt, among others. Among the song titles are “Forgive Me“, “The Tailor“, “No Suspects“, “AnotherDay“, “Leave No Trace” and “Becoming ».

“The last album was so much fun and such a creative experience for me that I put the band together again for a next record“, says Billy. It’s on the same record label (TLG | ZOID /Virgin Music Group), with the same crew (Barry Pointer did the mix of the record, DaveDonnelly the mastering and all art / photography by Jane Stuart) and I’m excited to share this body of work with the world“. He adds: “The guests on this album are at the core of the collaborative spirit I try to put at the center of these records. Every person I worked with raised the bar, brought their own style and helped me produce an album that crosses various genres, features a truly diverse songwriting, but has a truly coherent and strong sound. Ultimately, I’m just grateful to everyone who took part who allowed me to do it again” .
