Recommended for fans of: Manilla Road, Solstice, Eternal Champion, Atlantean Kodex, Warlord

Country: Greece

Release date: 2026

Petrichor is Battleroar’s sixth full‑length album and one of the band’s most mature and emotionally charged works. From the very first moment the record starts, it becomes clear how unique the blend they’ve created is: epic heavy metal, deep melodies and a violin that doesn’t function as a “decoration”, but as a core expressive tool.

The album opens with “The Last Mythkeeper”, a track with a spoken intro that strongly recalls Manowar — something that seems like a basic influence. The follow-up with “The Missing Note” raises the intensity, with guitars that bring Judas Priest to mind and a vocal performance full of emotion from Michael Karasoulis.

Karasoulis has an operatic, tenor-like timbre, one that at points recalls Blaze Bayley more than Bruce Dickinson. His voice is described as “full of character and emotional weight”, something evident throughout the album.

The element that stands out most — is Alex Papadiamantis’s violin. On “The Earth Remembers, the Rain Forgives”, the violin “carries the emotional weight of the track with admirable precision”. The mix of strength and vulnerability is rare in epic metal, but here it works flawlessly.

the violin adds a folk metal dimension, especially on tracks like “Wield the Myth”, without however altering the band’s epic character.

“Atē, Hybris, Nemesis” and “Legacy of Suffering (Flagellants)” continue the journey with darker themes, while “What Is Best in Life?” brings a more classic heavy metal energy. “Chaosbane” is among the record’s most dynamic moments, while “Wield the Myth” — which also comes with a lyric video — showcases Battleroar’s more melodic side.

the album’s sound brings to mind: “a more melodic version of Iron Maiden, enriched with violin and the emotional grandeur of Manowar”.

The production by Arthur Rizk (mix/master) gives the album clarity, volume and a modern aesthetic, without losing the band’s epic identity.

Overall, Petrichor presents itself as an album full of emotion, power and epicness. It is a work that honors Battleroar’s history, but at the same time shows a band that is evolving and daring to incorporate new elements without losing its soul.
