Style: Thrash Metal
For fans of: Anthrax, Megadeth, Testament, Overkill
Single release: May 2026
Album: Cursum Perficio – September 18, 2026
Anthrax officially entered their new era with “It’s For The Kids”, the first single from the upcoming album Cursum Perficio. After ten years without a new full‑length, the track comes as a reminder that the band remains active, strong and in the mood to carry on.
“It’s For The Kids” is classic Anthrax: fast, sharp, with riffs that grab you from the first second. Charlie Benante sets the rhythm with his signature playing, while Scott Ian keeps the riffing steady and aggressive. Jay Ruston’s production is clean and powerful, without losing the old‑school feeling you want from a band like Anthrax.
The video clip was shot in late 2025 and has that raw, “live” energy that suits the track. It doesn’t try to impress with effects — it just shows the band doing what they know best.
The album: Cursum Perficio
Cursum Perficio is Anthrax’s first album since For All Kings in 2016. The band worked again with Jay Ruston, while part of the recordings took place at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606.
The title is interesting:
- many translate it as “My journey ends”,
- but more correctly it means “I complete my journey / I carry on to the end”.
The inspiration came from a plaque at Marilyn Monroe’s home, but also from the discussion the members of the Big 4 had about whether they are approaching the “final chapter” of their career. Anthrax aren’t saying they’re finishing — they just acknowledge that they’re at a stage where every album carries weight.
The album will have 11 tracks, with titles such as:
- “Persistence of Memory”
- “The Long Goodbye”
- “Everybody’s Got a Plan”
- “Edge of Perfection”
- “NYC 93”
- “T.O.M.B.”
- “My Victory”
Scott Ian has already said that “Edge of Perfection” is perhaps the best track they have ever written — and he puts it alongside material from Among the Living. That alone raises expectations.

The making of the album
The 10-year delay wasn’t really 10 years of creation.
- 3 years of touring for For All Kings
- 2 years of COVID when they couldn’t work together
Essentially, the real work on the album happened over the last 4–5 years.
The visual side
The band puts great importance on the artwork and the packaging. Charlie Benante spoke about pop‑up elements in the physical edition, while Mark Stutzman’s cover is described as “impressive” and “artistically strong”.
Overall picture
“It’s For The Kids” shows that Anthrax haven’t lost any of their energy. Cursum Perficio looks like an album that carries weight, history and a mood to close a cycle — without meaning the band is stopping.
If “Edge of Perfection” is indeed as strong as Ian says, then we’re talking about one of the most important thrash releases of the year.
