PRESS RELEASE

Aneeiun, an extreme metal project from Colombia, present their new album “An.Ki.Kur”, a concept work that follows the mythology and the rise–fall of the ancient Sumerian civilization. The album is released on May 15, 2026 via Black Stars Productions, in high-resolution digital form (24‑bit/48kHz).

An.Ki.Kur tells the story from the descent of the Anunnaki to the destruction of the world by the Great Flood. The title comes from the Sumerian words:

  • AN (𒀭) – Heaven
  • KI (𒆠) – Earth
  • KUR (𒆳) – Underworld

Together: Heaven – Earth – Hades. All music and lyrics were written by Fabián López, who also took on recording, mixing and mastering.

REVIEW

An.Ki.Kur is an album that builds atmosphere from the very first second. Aneeiun move between atmospheric black metal and more ritualistic black‑death, with riffs that create images of ancient cities, deities and destruction. The production is clean but dark, leaving room for the layers to breathe without losing the aggression.

“They Descended from Heaven” is the album’s most direct moment, with a rhythm that recalls modern black metal but with melodies that hint at cosmic themes. “Uruk, Blood and Misery” has a more warlike character, while “Cursed Lands Forged in Chaos” brings the album’s most chaotic side, with guitars that build intensity without becoming noisy.

“Man Buried His Gods” closes the album in the most atmospheric and dramatic way, acting as a ritual epilogue to the story. Fabián López has made an album that doesn’t rely on “easy” black metal forms — instead, it emphasizes mythology, flow and the creation of a single unified world.
