AC/DC should have been on the Rogers Stadium stage on Wednesday night. Instead, they showed up in person at a fan pop-up event in Toronto, where Angus Young signed an autograph on a fan’s baby.
The video of the moment was posted by the «The AC/DC Family» Facebook page. The pop-up served as a gathering point for those left without a concert: visitors could buy exclusive merchandise, look at band memorabilia — among it a school uniform Young has worn on stage — and meet other fans. Such events usually happen without the band present; Wednesday was the exception, with Young and the rest signing memorabilia that those who came had brought with them.
The Toronto concert was cancelled a week earlier. A fierce storm swept through the area on September 2, destroyed large sections of the seating at the temporary outdoor venue and caused part of the north grandstand to collapse. The City of Toronto served the organizers at Live Nation Canada with an unsafe building remediation order after an inspection. No injuries were reported. Following a technical assessment in cooperation with the city, the cancellation was confirmed on September 9.
The announcement said «every effort» was made to find a way for the concert to happen, but no alternative venue large enough for everyone was found. Kevin Mahoney, the stadium’s meteorologist, spoke of «an exceptional weather event» with a possible microburst, extreme winds and heavy rain — «a 100-year storm for Toronto». Wayne Zronik, president of business operations at Live Nation Canada, said «safety comes first» and that the damaged sections will be removed and rebuilt so the venue is ready next summer. Rogers Stadium is a temporary installation with a capacity of about 50,000, built on the former Downsview Airport grounds: it opened in 2025 and drew more than 700,000 spectators across 14 concerts in its first season, while the AC/DC show was to close its second summer. Purchases through Ticketmaster are automatically refunded to the payment method used, while those who bought through resale platforms are directed to their point of purchase.
