Candlebox will release their new single «I Remember Everything» on Friday, September 25. It’s the band’s first recording with guitarist Peter Klett since the 2012 album «Love Stories & Other Musings», closing a 14-year gap in a partnership that produced their best-known songs.
It’s an independent release, produced by Kemble Walters at Good Noise Studio and mastered by Jeremy Costa at Backward Clock Sound Studio. Singer Kevin Martin said he was thrilled to be putting out music again with «his friend Pete beside him», while Klett commented that it feels great to be writing new songs and that he can’t wait for what comes next.
Klett had been away for about a decade, having stepped back to raise his family. In the spring of 2025 he took the initiative and asked Martin to return: «I’d like to come back and get back in the saddle». The answer, according to the singer, was: «The spot was always yours».
The development overturned what had looked like an ending: in 2023 Candlebox released «The Long Goodbye» as their final album, followed by a farewell tour and, in 2024, an anniversary edition of the record, with Klett absent from both. Martin has said the intervening stretch was filled by the invitation to join Bush’s 2024 «Greatest Hits Tour» alongside Jerry Cantrell, and that by the time Klett gave the signal to return he had concluded the band still had work ahead of it.
«I Remember Everything» arrives a little over a week after the start of the «Can’t Quit You» tour, 32 dates across North America, which opened on September 17 at The Pageant in St. Louis and closes on October 30 at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey. It’s their biggest headline tour in years, with support from The Mountain Goats, Sponge, The Verve Pipe, Sweet Water and American Blonde on select dates. Candlebox formed in Seattle in 1990 around Martin and drummer Scott Mercado, with Klett joining a few months later. Their self-titled 1993 debut went quadruple platinum and featured «Far Behind», «You», «Cover Me» and «Change».
