Wolf Hoffmann: Accept have not written a single note for the next record yet | Metal Territory

Wolf Hoffmann has written nothing for the successor to “Humanoid” and will not, as long as Accept’s 50th-anniversary year is ongoing. “I know we want to put out a new studio album, but for me it’s very hard to do many things at once,” he told “Anfetamina Y Rock”. “This year is dedicated to Accept’s 50 years, and maybe part of the next one. When the time comes, we’ll lock ourselves in the studio and work at full power — but that moment hasn’t arrived yet.”

He explained why he does not write “on the side”: as long as he is giving interviews and working on the anniversary release, his mind is not there. “I can’t pick up the guitar for ten minutes and write a great song. I need to get into that mindset and work on it every day until something comes out,” he said. Based on his own words, the earliest the next record could start taking shape is sometime in 2027.

His year is taken up by “Teutonic Titans 1976–2026”, released on 4 September 2026 by Napalm Records. It features 19 re-recorded Accept songs, from 1980’s “I’m A Rebel” to 1989’s “Eat The Heat”, with 50 guest musicians spread across them — a different lineup on each song, with no repeats. Among them are Rob Halford, Kirk Hammett, Phil Anselmo, Billy Corgan, Tobias Forge, K.K. Downing, Mikkey Dee, Matthias Jabs, Chuck Billy, Gary Holt, David Ellefson, Hansi Kürsch, Alex Skolnick, Billy Sheehan and Chris Jericho. One track stands out: “Hellhammer” was played by the current lineup on its own, with Jason McMaster of Dangerous Toys on vocals. Production, mixing and mastering were handled by Zeuss, with cover art by Gyula Havancsák.

Hoffmann remains the only constant man across these five decades of the band, which formed in Solingen in 1976. The current lineup is he on guitar, Mark Tornillo on vocals, Philip Shouse on guitar, Martin Motnik on bass and Christopher Williams on drums. “Humanoid”, the last album of new material, came out in April 2024, produced by Andy Sneap. “I still feel that the best song hasn’t been written and the best show hasn’t been played,” he says. “We are in the middle and the best is yet to come.”
