Nightrage’s sixth album was released on April 24, 2015 via Despotz Records, produced by George Nerantzis and Daniel Bergstrand.
Country: Greece / Sweden
Genre: Melodic death metal
For fans of: In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Offernat
On vocals is Ronnie Nyman, who took over from Antony Hämäläinen in 2013 — the first major change after years of a stable line-up. The eleven tracks on the album keep the running time at 38 minutes, the shortest in their catalogue.
The production is more modern and the drums have weight, since Bergstrand has worked with Meshuggah and In Flames. “The Puritan”, “Foul Vile Life”, “Stare into Infinity” and “Kiss of a Sycophant” are the tracks that carry the album.
Our take
After four years of silence, Nightrage came back more modern and tighter. It is not their most recognisable record, but it is one of their most carefully crafted.
