“Insidious” came out on September 26, 2011 in Europe and a day later in North America, via Lifeforce Records.
Country: Greece / Sweden
Genre: Melodic death metal
For fans of: At the Gates, Firewind, Dark Tranquillity
It is the first Nightrage album with the same line-up as the previous one, and the guests are heavy names: the band’s former singer Tomas Lindberg, Gus G., Tom Englund of Evergrey and Apollo Papathanasio. The Japanese edition includes a cover of Def Leppard’s “Photograph”.
The sound becomes more direct: shorter songs, fewer acoustic parts, more aggressive production. “Delirium of the Fallen” — the video was shot at Eightball Club in Thessaloniki — the title track “Insidious” and “Cloaked in Wolf Skin” stand out. A North American tour with Firewind and Arsis followed.
Our take
The album shows a band that knew what it wanted: leaner than the previous one, without ornaments that tire, and with the best vocals they had had up to then.
