“The Venomous” was released on March 31, 2017 via Despotz, on CD, vinyl and digitally.
Country: Greece / Sweden
Genre: Melodic death metal
For fans of: At the Gates, Septicflesh, Rotting Christ
The recording was done by Terry Nikas at Zero Gravity Studios in Athens, with mixing and mastering by Lawrence Mackrory at Maskinrummet in Uppsala. In Japan the album came out via Avalon/Marquee, with a bonus alternative version of the instrumental “Denial of the Soul”.
It is their longest record, around 50 minutes, and it moves along darker paths with frequent blast beats. “Metamorphosis/Day of Wrath”, “In Abhorrence” and the title track set the pace, while “Trail of Ghosts” slows down.
Our take
Here the influence of Athens shows: the sound is rawer and more aggressive, without losing its melodies. It is the record that showed the band had no intention of softening.
