The first trailer for «Ozzy and Black Sabbath: Back To The Beginning», the film about Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert, is out. It opens in cinemas worldwide on October 28, with tickets via backtothebeginning.com. Distribution is handled by Trafalgar Releasing and production by Mercury Studios, part of Universal Music Group.
The film tells the story of the July 5, 2025 concert at Birmingham’s Villa Park, the city where Black Sabbath formed. It was sold out and served as Osbourne’s final farewell to his fans, just 17 days before his death. That night he first played alone, and then came the reunion of the original four-piece: Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward came together on the same stage for the first time in more than 20 years.
Behind the whole event was Sharon Osbourne, who explains what drove her: «“Back To The Beginning” happened because I asked Ozzy what would truly make him happy. And he told me the only thing that would make him happy was to sing again and say goodbye to his fans. He wanted to say goodbye and thank you.»
The night was hosted by actor Jason Momoa, with Tom Morello as musical director. Tribute sets were performed on stage by, among others, Alice In Chains, Anthrax, Gojira, Guns N’ Roses, Halestorm, Lamb Of God, Mastodon, Metallica, Pantera, Rival Sons, Slayer and Tool, while there were also songs with many guests together, from Billy Corgan, Chad Smith, David Draiman, K.K. Downing, Nuno Bettencourt, Ronnie Wood, Sammy Hagar, Steven Tyler, Travis Barker, Vernon Reid and Yungblud to Papa V Perpetua of Ghost.
Tom Morello says something like this has never happened before in the history of rock and roll and that there’s no precedent for a concert of this scale.
