Swedish modern rock band Self Deception release their new single “BREAK!”, full of the explosive energy that characterizes their sound. “BREAK!” arrives just a few days before the release of the brand-new album “One Of Us”, which comes out on May 15, 2026 via Napalm Records.
“BREAK!” combines dynamic drums, sturdy riffs and electronic elements, while peaking with a chorus that sticks immediately. With previous hits like “Fight Fire With Gasoline” (2022), which has gathered tens of millions of streams, Self Deception continue to establish their place on the international rock scene with this new release.
Singer Andreas Clark comments on “BREAK!”:
“We all know that person. The one who has made chaos a way of life, who can’t feel love unless it hurts, because pain is the only proof that it’s real. One side writes poetry, the other burns the pages. Passionate but poisonous, asking for peace while starting wars, addicted to drama, torn in two by what they are.”
Known for their explosive mix of modern metal and powerful melodic rock, Self Deception have shared the stage with bands like Electric Callboy, Danko Jones and Adept since 2009, while gathering millions of streams and views. “One Of Us” was written on the road, during the most intense tour of their career to date. It’s a tight album, full of character, made for the stage — and for the pit.
Self Deception on “One Of Us”:
“One Of Us is our new album, inspired by life on the road and the energy of the live stage. Constant touring put us in a ‘live bubble’, and that feeling carries into the songwriting. The album revolves around the feeling of being on the outside and the need to belong somewhere. On tour we meet many lost and lonely people, looking for a few hours of escape inside a rock concert. With One Of Us we want everyone to feel part of something bigger, to feel they are one of us.”
The title track “ONE OF US” opens the album with force, presenting the band’s heavy modern metal side: hardcore energy, aggressive lyrics and attitude that leaves no room for compromise. “TIME’S UP” has a huge chorus, fresh hooks and high energy, while the emotional “DON’T B E L O N G” touches on difficult subjects like addiction and battles with mental health — with beautiful melodies, a multi-layered vocal performance and a heavy rhythmic base.
Other highlights of the 11‑track album are “THE WEDDING” and of course “BREAK!”, with the powerful drums, the electronic elements and yet another catchy sing‑along chorus. “ENTERTAINED” contains one of the record’s heaviest breakdowns, before “GODDAMN ME” closes the album with intensity.
