«Warriors of the World» is Manowar‘s ninth record. It was released on June 4, 2002 via Nuclear Blast and runs 47 minutes. It’s the record that gave the band its best-known single of the modern era, «Warriors of the World United».
Country: USA
Genre: Heavy metal, power metal
For fans of: Black Sabbath, Saxon, Iron Maiden
The record has two covers that surprised: Puccini’s aria «Nessun Dorma» and «An American Trilogy». «Warriors of the World United» entered the German charts and became the track with which the band closes almost every concert. The record also includes «Call to Arms», «The Fight for Freedom», «Swords in the Wind», «Hand of Doom» and «Fight Until We Die».
The Japanese edition added a live performance of «Kill with Power» from Gods of Metal in Italy on June 6, 1999, while the «Gold edition» included «The Dawn of Battle» and video. The sound is more orchestral than ever, with choirs and keys next to the guitars.
Our take
It’s the record that brought Manowar to a new audience, without changing the recipe: anthems, big choruses, themes of war and honor. The title track still works today as the last song of the night.
