Anthrax have released “The Edge Of Perfection”, the second single from the upcoming Cursum Perficio, the band’s first full‑length in ten years. The track comes with an official video directed by Joel Harlow, a creator who has worked on Star Trek and Alice In Wonderland, and here he blends cinematic storytelling with live performance in a dark, fantastical concept.
The video follows a mysterious character who is pulled from a dream into a nightmarish world full of magic and underworld elements. The cast includes Wes Scarpias, Ashley Edner‑Tancharoen, Troy James, Rick Baker, Rod Maxwell and Fedor Steer, giving the clip the feel of a real cinematic short.
Musically, “The Edge Of Perfection” begins with clean guitars and subtle cymbal swells before crashing into blastbeats and heavy guitars. Joey Belladonna carries the whole emotional weight of the track with the chorus “My heart breaks… I’m on the edge… I’m on the edge of perfection”, one of his strongest performances in recent times.

Scott Ian described it as “the apex predator of Anthrax songs”, saying it’s the best thing he’s ever written. He spoke about how the concept of love — family, the people who keep you standing — is the core of the track. Charlie Benante added that the song has that “hitting” feel, like “Only” and “Indians”, where you know you’ve achieved something special.
Cursum Perficio is released on 18 September by Megaforce in the US and Nuclear Blast in Europe. It is Anthrax’s twelfth studio album and the first after For All Kings in 2016. The title means “I complete my course” or “My journey reaches its end”, giving a more personal and existential tone to the record’s concept.
