Vingulmork were formed in 2013 in Norway, when four musicians came together with extreme metal, powerful riffs and dark melodies as their common reference point. From the start, the band built on the Scandinavian black metal tradition, without however limiting itself within the narrow confines of a single genre.
In their sound we find the aggression of thrash metal, the weight of death metal and the frozen atmosphere of black metal. All of this ties together to create a result that is harsh, dark and full of tension.
Darkness, anger and despair
Vingulmork’s themes move along particularly dark paths. Anger, anguish and despair are core elements of their music, without this meaning they avoid more sensitive and personal sides.
At the center are often the moments when optimism collapses, dreams fall apart and hope seems to be lost for good. This dark side also passes into the music, through riffs that hit hard but also melodies that keep an intense, frozen atmosphere.
Over the years, Vingulmork have made their sound even heavier and more complex. At the same time, though, they have kept the rawness and the aggression that existed from their first steps.
New album in the autumn of 2026
In the autumn of 2026 Vingulmork are preparing to present the fourth album of their course. According to the band, it is the most ambitious and powerful work they have released to date.
The first signs point to a record based on heavy riffs, extreme intensity and the band’s characteristic dark mood. Vingulmork seem to keep evolving their sound without moving away from their roots.
With more than ten years of presence, the Norwegian band remains a steady and uncompromising presence in the extreme metal underground, choosing to follow its own path and to keep its music as harsh and dark as it needs to be.
