The listen
The title track «I, Scvlptor» stands out as the strongest new moment, while «Lord ov the Horizons» reaches the band’s standards from 2018 onward. The re-recordings of «Rise of the Blackstorm of Evil» (1992) and «In Thy Pandemaeternum» (1998) refresh the old material with a modern sound, without betraying its spirit — on the contrary, they highlight it.
The covers pay tribute to their sources, with Behemoth’s personal stamp illuminating them differently. Even «Begotten», which didn’t quite fit the sound of «The Shit ov God», finds its place here. «I, Scvlptor» isn’t their most ambitious album, but it’s an adequate distillation of what the group is today — blackened death without detours.
