Rahaty is a solo project from Grodno, Belarus, the creation of the same man behind the raw black metal band Pa Vesh En. The debut EP “Bestial Lustmord” gathers ideas that didn’t fit his main act and turns them into an atmospheric, bestial blackened death metal whole — with programmed drums and a stream of thought that keeps atmosphere as the main connecting link.

“Desecration Cannonade” opens the record and is the longest and most detailed track of the EP, combining both of the project’s main modes: the mid-paced, heavy march and the faster, stomping roll. “Apostles of Blasphemy” shows the band’s strength at mid-pace, while “Scorched Beneath the Solar Seal” is one of the most gripping moments. “Sanctified in Blood” dances between two main motifs with wild screams, and “Sigillum Hirci” hammers away at the EP’s fastest tempo.
The sound moves between the reverbing roar of The Haunting Presence and the more sturdy neo-death and grind grooves of Ruin Lust and Vermin Womb. The feeling is that of “bedroom metal”: loose, solo, without pretenses, with atmosphere dominating. A distinctive riff-signature doesn’t have time to establish itself within 22 minutes, but Rahaty finds his own eye in the chaos — and as a first solo statement the result is impressive.
