All the good (and the bad) things that happened at Welcome To Rockville

The Welcome To Rockville festival took place this weekend, with many interesting and a few unpleasant events. Let’s start first with the bad news. Poppy‘s performance on May 8 ended before it even began, according to theprp . Due to a severe weather warning, the festival organisers cancelled her appearance halfway through her opening line titled “Have you had enough?” .

Fans were instructed from the stage to take cover in the stands, in their cars or in the camping facilities. Poppy‘s performance couldn’t continue after the weather warning ended due to the complicated structure of the festival’s bookings and the several artists involved.

But there were also some interesting and crazy moments during the festival… Breaking Benjamin gave a slightly vague hint last week that “Something Wicked” would be released this weekend. The multi-platinum hard rock band ended the mysterious countdown, but there was no digital reward, so the Ray Bradbury fans were ultimately not unlucky. Instead, the big announcement coincided with the band’s appearance yesterday, May 9, at the “Welcome To Rockville” event in Daytona Beach, Florida.
During that appearance, they released a brand new song titled “Something Wicked“. This was contrary to the band’s policy, as so far they have chosen to wait to present new songs until they’re available to fans. Nevertheless, a pre-save of the song can be found at this link , and a studio version is on the way.

Moreover, the night was the band’s first appearance with their new drummer, Brian Medeiros (formerly RED / otherwise ). James Cassells of Asking Alexandria , who temporarily filled in on drums last year, is being replaced by Medeiros. In addition to the previously mentioned new song and a recurring brief appearance by Master Chief of Halo , Breaking Benjamin and Lacey Sturm of Flyleaf performed their previous joint single, “Dear Agony“, during yesterday’s appearance.

This week, Ice Nine Kills’ song from “Scream 7”, “Twisting The Knife“, made its debut in a live appearance with the rising talent MAPHRA . On May 7, this collaboration took place. The parts of “Twisting The Knife“, which were originally performed by the “Scream 7” actress Mckenna Grace, were taken over by MAPHRA , who has made a splash on social media with her covers of many metalcore songs and has even reached the charts. According to reports, she made her live debut with this appearance. Meanwhile, the band released “Hell Or High Slaughter” for the first time, a recent single from “Grave Diggler”. It was released in conjunction with the new horror/thriller “Ready Or Not 2: Here I Come”.

When Nonpoint appeared at “Welcome To Rockville” on May 8, they had planned a throwback for their audience. The band performed live “Bullet With A Name“, their best-known song to date, with their former bassist Ken MacMillan. MacMillan was one of the band’s original members and played bass and backing vocals with them from 1997 to 2011. This song was the first single from their fifth studio album, “To The Pain”, which was released in 2005.

See who came up on stage with us today! For the first time in 15 years, our first bassist, Ken, also known as KB, came up with us for “Bullet With a Name”. It was like yesterday, we were just jamming in a room together. We’ve been waiting for this for a long time. But overall today we had a great time with our family at “Welcome To Rockville”. We can’t thank the fans and the staff here enough, not only for working, but also for watching us. We have to tell you a big thank you. And to @welcometorockville and the city of Daytona, THANK YOU for giving us so much love and unmatched energy from this monumental moment. Can’t wait to get back on your stages. Thank you for everything you are and everything you do for the rock community..
