Nightrage’s second album came out on February 21, 2005 in Europe via Century Media, on April 5 in the US and in late April in Japan via King Japan.
Country: Greece / Sweden
Genre: Melodic death metal
For fans of: At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity, Septicflesh
The line-up settled: Fotis Benardo of Septicflesh on drums, Henric Carlsson on bass, and on the clean vocals of “Frozen” Mikael Stanne of Dark Tranquillity. It was the last album with Tomas Lindberg, who left so that the band could tour with a permanent singer.
The album is darker and faster than the debut: “Being Nothing”, “Poems” and “Drug” set the tone, while “Frozen” has the album’s most recognisable melody thanks to Stanne.
Our take
It is the album that showed Nightrage were not a two-guitarist affair: the band stood upright through Lindberg’s departure and built the sound that would follow it for years.
