Filth are a death metal trio from Gothenburg, Sweden, who appeared in 2022 without any online presence or announcement. After a two-song promo in 2024, they quickly signed for their debut «Time to Rot» (2025), which was well received. Now they return with their second record, «Death Exhibition».
Country: Sweden
Genre: Old School Death Metal
For fans of: Entombed, Autopsy, Undergang
The record runs about thirty-four minutes and is denser and more complete than their debut. The sound has doom depths, with slow and heavy riffs dominating. It opens with «Split Casket», which starts with a riff in a «To Mega Therion» style and then pulls the listener through twisting turns and howling solos. «Buried Alive» presents the record’s core motif: slow and heavy death/doom that breaks into faster, twisted parts.
«Born a Corpse» recalls Unleashed with its strong groove and Swedish edge, while some tracks also have the strong sound of old Grave. «Mental Butchery» is among the record’s best, with its climaxes and the cursed second half with the horror synthesizers. The instrumental «…Inhumed…» and its repetition «…Exhumed…» add to the dark, Finnish-type atmosphere.
In the second half, the record stays steady in its style: the title track «Death Exhibition» and «Rotted Life» raise the level of the songwriting, creating a sense of descent into chaos. Filth do not try to surprise with flashy tricks, but they deepened their access to the dark and the desperate, and with more riffs and better focus, their second record clearly shows evolution.
